April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. Ross is among the few female players of beach volleyball that have done so. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll be aiming to win her third gold medal with fellow the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her first Olympic gold. At 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her last shot. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. If we perform at our very highest or do well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Then I will also take the chance to have chance. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. She was able to participate in numerous activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she stood out at this level. As per her biography her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). Her achievements were rewarded when she was named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. Also, in 2000 she was named Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since 2017, the former had already been a major athlete on the beach even before the pair formed. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until the year 2013. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the international stage. The duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympic Games. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat out for gold. It was fate that had them. Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. Together, they took home beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her college time with the Trojans at USC after graduation from high school. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross made her debut on the beach and became a pro. Ross's Trojans experience was impressive. In her first year at the school, 2000 saw her earn the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of award and become an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a tragic incident in her sophomore year. However, she went on to be an All-American in her second year. The last two years with the Trojans' program, she led them to success by winning two consecutive national championships. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter achieve the heights of beach volleyball. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to keep her mother's memory close and dear. Margie is a source of inspiration both in her personal life and at the beach.
