Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very low-income family, with twelve kids at one point, realized that she was able to escape her hardships through a creative mind. Even before learning to read or write and compose her own songs. When she got her first instrument at age of 8, she began to play at radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. That same time, Gold Band Records was an independent label. She made a name in the local scene while in high school but she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time, was in search for a female singer for his program. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton recorded I Will Always Love You for Wagoner in the aftermath of their breakup. It reached number one. The first time in 1974.
