Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay Brodie was born in Ogden Utah on September 15 1915. Fawn MCKAY, born into the Mormon Church's First Family, used her literary talent and expertise in research to write an intriguing psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945, under the name No Man is a Master of My History, she used both. The title came from a funeral sermon delivered by the founder of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844 when he startled his listeners by declaring"You don't even know me." you never knew my heart. Nobody knows my story. My history is not known by anyone. Fawn (29 years old) said that, after her confessional moment the three hundred and thirty writers have stood up to the occasion. Some have rebuked him, while some have praised. Few have made the diagnosis. The documents aren't there, it's that they are so contradictory. It is a matter of separating first-hand testimony from third hand plagiarism and fitting Mormon-and non-Mormon-narratives into a cohesive mosaic of reliable historical facts. This is fascinating and educational. Fawn Brodie's professional life was devoted to this aim. Thaddeus Stewards, which was the product of her writing and research led her to become a known writer. The DevilDrives. Thomas Jefferson. A Personal Historiography (1974) and posthumously Richard Nixon.
